China official PMI
50.1 for 2026-09. Change on the prior print: +0.3.

What it measures
The official PMI is the NBS survey of purchasing managers. Manufacturing and non-manufacturing are two indexes on this page. Caixin PMI is a different survey and is not included.
Fifty is the line between expansion and contraction versus the previous month. The index is a diffusion measure, not a growth rate.
Markets treat the manufacturing print as the first read on the month just ended. It arrives at the end of the month or the first day of the next one.
A number above 50 can still be a weak economy if it is falling. The level and the change both matter.
