How it's measured

CNH is the yuan traded outside the mainland, mostly in Hong Kong. This page quotes USD/CNH from Yahoo Finance as CNH per dollar.

The offshore rate is set by the market and is not capped by the onshore daily band, so it moves further and faster than the onshore CNY quote.

The spread between this rate and the official parity is the usual read on how the market is pricing the currency against the fix.
